Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. recently revealed its ambitious plans to invest 2.18 billion yuan in upgrading its medium and heavy truck production, expanding manufacturing capacity, and launching new pickup and mid-size SUV models. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening the company’s market position and meeting growing demand for diverse commercial vehicles. The company officially announced on November 14 that its board of directors had approved the investment plan. A significant portion of the funds—682 million yuan—will be allocated to the H4 project, focusing on the technological upgrade of medium and heavy trucks. Another 1.188 billion yuan will go toward the South China Sea planning initiative and the expansion of heavy truck production capacity. Futian Company stated that these projects are crucial for enhancing product quality, increasing output, and supporting long-term business growth. In addition, Foton will allocate 311 million yuan to develop new pickup and mid-size SUV models under the P/U201 project. This further diversifies the company's product lineup and opens up new market opportunities. Earlier this year, on August 7, Foton Motors and Daimler signed a letter of intent in Beijing, outlining potential collaboration in the Chinese market. The agreement includes the possibility of establishing a joint venture for the production of medium- and heavy-duty trucks, with future cooperation potentially extending to passenger cars. However, the current investment plan does not include any joint ventures. This development highlights Foton’s commitment to innovation and expansion. With a brand value of 22.157 billion yuan, Futian continues to strengthen its presence in both domestic and international markets.
