Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. recently revealed its ambitious plans to invest 2.18 billion yuan in technological upgrades for its medium and heavy trucks, expand production capacity, and develop new pickup trucks and mid-size SUVs. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening the company's market position and meeting growing demand in both domestic and international markets. The investment was officially approved by the company’s board of directors on November 14. A significant portion of the funds—682 million yuan—will be allocated to the H4 project, focusing on upgrading medium and heavy truck models. Another 1.188 billion yuan will go toward expanding production capacity in South China and developing new heavy truck projects. Futian Company believes that these initiatives will not only enhance product quality but also significantly boost the company's long-term growth potential. In addition, Foton will allocate 311 million yuan to research and development for two new models: a pickup truck and a mid-size SUV (P/U201). These new products are expected to diversify the company’s lineup and attract a broader range of customers. Earlier this year, on August 7, Foton Motors and Daimler signed a letter of intent in Beijing. The agreement outlined plans for a joint venture to produce medium- and heavy-duty trucks in China, with potential expansion into passenger car manufacturing. However, the current investment projects announced by Foton do not include any joint ventures, indicating that these are independent initiatives focused on internal development. This latest announcement highlights Foton’s commitment to innovation and expansion, reinforcing its position as a key player in China’s automotive industry. With a brand value of 22.157 billion yuan, Futian continues to build on its reputation and explore new opportunities for growth.
