Development of Trailer-mounted Pumps and Their Application
The original pump group of the Zhongyuan Petroleum Exploration Bureau Machinery Manufacturing Plant was powered by a PZ12V190B diesel engine, which transmitted power through a universal shaft and a linkage unit, then via a belt drive to the 3NB21300 drilling pump. However, due to its large size, difficult transportation, and poor diesel engine speed performance, it failed to meet the demands of modern drilling and workover operations. Additionally, the diesel engine's reliability was low, and the linkage system often led to frequent downtime and maintenance, causing unnecessary losses for users.
In response to the current drilling needs in the Central Plains Oilfield in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, a new TJBZ01 trailer-mounted pump group was developed based on the original design. This new model offers superior performance, a more rational structure, and better transmission efficiency. It is well-suited for drilling in various complex environments and significantly improves the shortcomings of the previous pump group, such as its complicated structure and poor practicality.
First, the structural characteristics and main technical parameters: The TJBZ01 trailer-mounted pump group uses a Cat 3412E EFI diesel engine instead of the domestic PZ12V2190B. This engine is compact, lightweight, efficient, fuel-saving, easy to maintain, and has excellent emission performance and cold-start capabilities. It can meet the requirements of F2800 or F21300 mud pumps under various working conditions.
The pump group is equipped with a BY801D hydraulic transmission, replacing the original JS321000 reducer and linkage system. This configuration includes a single-phase radial three-phase lock-integrated torque converter, planetary gear mechanical transmission, and a hydraulic control system that automatically switches between torque and lock modes based on load changes. This not only reduces the overall volume but also allows the hydraulic transmission to adjust speed and meet different drilling fluid displacement and pressure requirements. The hydraulic transmission offers 8-speed gears.
Instead of the original 3NB21300C mud pump, the TJBZ01 uses an F2800 or F21300 mud pump, which is lighter, more advanced, and easier to maintain. The pump group connects the hydraulic torque converter output to the mud pump input shaft using a V251.5 universal coupling, replacing the traditional V-belt drive. This shortens the transmission distance, increases efficiency, and extends service life.
The pump group is mounted on a 30-ton high-low double-bridge semi-trailer chassis, featuring a 450mm welded steel frame and ZS12B-type dual bridges. It uses 11.00-22 tires and dual-chamber brakes. To enhance stability, six 28-ton Fuwa bearing legs are symmetrically arranged, allowing the unit to remain off the ground during long-term operation. For transport, it is equipped with a Mercedes-Benz front tractor and a 50# traction pin, enabling long-distance driving.
Main technical parameters include: Chassis type - 30-ton high-low double-bridge semi-trailer; wheelbase - 1300mm; tractor - Mercedes-Benz 50# traction pin; swing radius - 2200mm; diesel engine model - Cat 3412E; hydraulic transmission model - BY801D; mud pump model - F2800 or F21300; universal coupling - U251.5; dimensions - 11700mm × 3000mm × 1400mm.
Power transmission works as follows: The diesel engine generates power, which is transmitted through the torque converter of the hydraulic transmission to the drilling pump via a universal coupling. During this process, rotational motion is converted into linear movement, and mechanical energy is transformed into hydraulic energy. The power path is: diesel engine → hydraulic transmission (variable speed, torque) → universal coupling → drilling pump.
Since its introduction in 1999, the TJBZ01 trailer-mounted pump group has been successfully used in the DuRi and Minas fields in Indonesia, as well as by the "China 2" drilling crew in Saudi Aramco. According to user feedback, the pump group operates smoothly, with reliable quality and ease of use. It reduces labor intensity, improves the working environment, meets current drilling and workover mud parameter requirements, and offers excellent transmission performance. As a result, it is highly welcomed by drilling crews.
