Recently, it was revealed by local authorities that the expansion project at Dongying Port in Shandong has reached 80% of its total progress. The project has set several national records, particularly in terms of investment and the construction of trestle bridges. Dongying Port's total investment amounts to 1.7 billion yuan, with the longest bridge spanning an impressive 7,020 meters. This project marks the first time large-diameter pipe piles have been used in northern China, along with the first integrated construction approach and the initial use of waveboard technology. These innovations are expected to provide valuable experience for future port developments in muddy coastal areas of the north. The first phase of the port includes two 30,000-ton general-purpose berths, while the second phase will add two 5,000-ton berths. The third phase is planned to feature two 10,000-ton berths, significantly boosting the port's capacity and efficiency. With this expansion, Dongying Port is set to become a major logistics hub in the region, supporting both domestic and international trade. This development highlights the growing importance of infrastructure investment in China’s coastal regions, as ports continue to evolve to meet the demands of modern shipping and commerce.
