Development of Trailer-mounted Pumps and Their Application

The original pump group of the Zhongyuan Petroleum Exploration Bureau Machinery Manufacturing Plant was powered by a PZ12V190B diesel engine. The power was transmitted through a universal shaft and a linkage unit, then transferred via a belt drive to the 3NB21300 drilling pump. However, due to its large structure, transportation challenges, and poor performance of the diesel engine's speed, it failed to meet the demands of the drilling and workover process. Additionally, the reliability of the diesel engines was low, and the linkage system was inefficient, leading to frequent breakdowns and maintenance issues, which caused significant losses for users. In response to the current drilling needs in the Central Plains Oilfield in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, we developed a new TJBZ01 trailer-mounted pump group based on the original design. This new model offers superior performance, a more rational structure, and better transmission efficiency. It is suitable for various complex environments and significantly improves the shortcomings of the previous pump group, such as its complicated structure and limited practicality. First, the structural features and main technical parameters: 1. **Structural Characteristics** The TJBZ01 trailer-mounted pump group uses a Cat 3412E EFI diesel engine instead of the domestic PZ12V190B engine. This engine is compact, lightweight, efficient, and fuel-saving, with excellent cold-start performance and emission characteristics. It can meet the requirements of F2800 or F21300 mud pumps under different working conditions. The pump group is equipped with a BY801D hydraulic transmission system, replacing the original JS321000 reducer and linkage. This system features a single-phase radial three-phase lock-integrated torque converter, planetary gear mechanical transmission, and a hydraulic control system that automatically switches between torque and lock modes based on load changes. This configuration not only reduces the overall size but also leverages the speed control characteristics of the hydraulic transmission to adapt to varying drilling fluid displacement and pressure requirements. The hydraulic transmission provides 8-speed gears. Instead of the original 3NB21300C mud pump, the TJBZ01 uses an F2800 or F21300 mud pump, which is lighter, has a more advanced structure, and offers uniform displacement and easy maintenance. A V251.5 universal coupling connects the hydraulic torque converter output to the mud pump input shaft, replacing the traditional V-belt drive. This shortens the transmission distance, increases efficiency, and extends service life. The pump group is mounted on a 30-ton high-low double-bridge semi-trailer chassis. The chassis frame is made of 450mm welded steel, with a ZS12B-type dual-bridge structure, 11.00×220 Yellow tires, and a dual-chamber brake system. To enhance stability, six 28-ton Fuwa bearing legs are symmetrically arranged, allowing the entire unit to be lifted off the ground for transport. During this process, rotational motion is converted into linear movement, and mechanical energy is transformed into hydraulic energy. The power flow is: diesel engine → hydraulic transmission (variable speed, torque) → universal coupling → drilling pump. **Usage Experience** Since 1999, the TJBZ01 trailer-mounted pump group has been successfully used in the DuRi and Minas fields in Indonesia, as well as by the "China 2" drilling crew of Saudi Aramco. According to user feedback, the TJBZ01 pump group operates smoothly, with reliable quality and ease of operation. It not only reduces the workload of staff, improves the working environment, and better meets the mud parameter requirements of current drilling and workover processes, but also demonstrates excellent transmission performance. As a result, it is highly favored by the drilling crews. **Conclusions** (1) Superior performance, high reliability, fewer wearing parts, and the ability to operate under complex environmental conditions. (2) Advanced and rational structure, with a compact and reasonable layout of the device, including a lightweight diesel engine, transmission, coupling, and drilling pump mounted on the chassis. (3) Easy installation and maintenance, low cost, no need for complex foundation, simple setup, long lifespan, and convenient maintenance. (4) Excellent portability, thanks to the trailer-mounted structure, making transportation and mobility flexible and efficient.
