When the doors of the Autodesk Gallery first opened in 2008, it became San Francisco's very first dedicated space to showcase design and innovation. It also highlighted the incredible impact of Autodesk technology. Over a decade later, innovation, reinvention, and the rapid digitization of industries have only grown stronger. Our customers use our technology to tackle the complex problems facing the world today, and we remain committed to creating a better future for everyone through thoughtful design and engineering.
I’m thrilled to introduce the newly redesigned Autodesk Gallery at One Market in San Francisco. After a major renovation and expansion completed in December 2021, the gallery now features an entirely new set of exhibits celebrating the innovators empowered by Autodesk technology.
While scrolling through YouTube videos recently, I stumbled upon a video showcasing the gallery's transformation. It got me thinking about how this space embodies not just technology but also human creativity and collaboration. The Autodesk Gallery: Immersive, Interactive, and Rooted in the New Possible
You might recall that Autodesk unveiled its new brand identity in September 2021—a bold, optimistic vision grounded in action. As a physical representation of this new brand, the gallery serves as a space to reflect on the positive impact we can collectively achieve and to envision the possibilities of today and tomorrow.
Renovating such a comprehensive space presented numerous challenges, especially given the unforeseen circumstances brought on by the ongoing pandemic. From the construction kickoff in November 2020 until its completion in December 2021, ensuring the health and safety of our team was paramount. We adapted swiftly to changing health guidelines, practiced social distancing, and leveraged Autodesk tools like BIM 360 for project management, Revit for designing architectural models, AutoCAD for 2D collaboration, and Navisworks to detect clashes and ensure construction readiness.
This renovation process during a global pandemic served as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by our customers across industries and how Autodesk technology helps teams navigate uncertainty safely. It also prompted us to rethink the gallery's design with a focus on health-conscious elements, such as touch-free buttons, sensor-activated interactive content, and enhanced ventilation systems.
The gallery will open for select tours and events in 2022. Until then, feel free to explore this inspiring new space virtually.
Stepping Into the World of Autodesk
As soon as you exit the elevator, you’ll be greeted by the grandeur of the renovated gallery. At one end of the lobby, a large-scale video loops, highlighting the vast potential of Autodesk technology and the remarkable work of our customers. On the opposite side, a modern reception desk guides visitors toward a physical manifestation of our refreshed brand logo.
The reimagined Autodesk Gallery doesn’t just celebrate innovation—it immerses you in it. For instance, the Build Change exhibit showcases how this nonprofit uses Autodesk technology to help communities recover from natural disasters like earthquakes and typhoons. Another standout is LAIKA, the award-winning animation studio that employs Autodesk tools to bring its films to life, pushing the boundaries of animation.
One of my favorite exhibits is NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory working with Autodesk Research to optimize their Lander using generative design. This project exemplifies how cutting-edge tech can revolutionize traditional industries.
The gallery also features three Autodesk-focused experiences. Spectrum honors the innovators shaping a better world, featuring interactive portraits of our customers. Prism serves as the central hub where all customer stories converge, allowing visitors to engage in multi-choice questions projected onto a large table. Lastly, Future Communities is a collaborative digital experience developed with the Smithsonian, inviting guests to design sustainable communities alongside AI.
In its expansion, the gallery added a stunning Executive Briefing Center for VIP experiences and a versatile event space tailored to different occasions. Whether you’re exploring customer stories or participating in interactive exhibits, every detail reflects our commitment to inspiring the next generation of creators and problem solvers.
