This is from Karl Klotz:
While browsing through fire apparatus photos on Flickr, I stumbled upon some interesting rigs from Illinois that made their way down to Mexico. One particular engine caught my eye — it’s now serving the firefighters in San Jose del Cabo.
The engine in question is X-Morton Grove-Engine 4, a Pierce model that was originally built for a U.S. department. It has since been exported and is now part of the local fire department’s fleet.
Below are a few images of the engine in its current location. The first photo shows the engine as it appears today, still bearing its original markings but now serving a new community.

Another shot captures the same engine in a different setting, highlighting how it blends into its new environment.

A third image gives a closer look at the vehicle, showing its well-maintained condition.

But this engine wasn’t always in Mexico. Here are some older photos from when it was still in service in Illinois.

It’s fascinating to see how these vehicles continue to serve long after they’ve left their original departments.
