It was Sunday morning, December 9th, 2018. A mattress warehouse that was fully sprinklered and made of metal. The initial call was probably an automatic alarm. From the outside, there wasn’t much to see, but it was interesting to watch Truck 26 doing aggressive ventilation with the aerial ladder and using a saw on the side of the building. I had a good vantage point from the street, and it was clear the firefighters were working hard. The building was pretty solid, so the ventilation work was crucial. I’ve seen a few fires in my time, but this one stood out for the way they handled it. It’s always impressive to see how quickly they respond and how well they coordinate.
