Introducing the reimagined Autodesk Gallery

When it first opened its doors back in 2008, the Autodesk Gallery in San Francisco became the city's very first space devoted exclusively to showcasing design and innovation. It was also a testament to the incredible influence of Autodesk technology. Over a decade later, the pace of innovation, reinvention, and digital transformation has only picked up speed. Today, Autodesk customers rely on our tools to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to creating a better world through design. I’m thrilled to share that we’ve unveiled a completely reimagined Autodesk Gallery located at One Market in San Francisco. After undergoing extensive renovations and expansions that wrapped up in December 2021, the gallery now presents an entirely new set of exhibits celebrating the trailblazers empowered by Autodesk technology. While you might have caught wind of Autodesk’s new brand identity in September 2021—a bold, optimistic vision deeply rooted in action—our gallery serves as its physical embodiment. It’s a space where we can reflect on the positive impact we can collectively create and envision the possibilities of today and tomorrow. Renovating a space as significant as the gallery came with its own set of challenges, but the unexpected arrival of the global pandemic added another layer of complexity. From the start of construction in November 2020 until its completion in December 2021, keeping our team safe and healthy was paramount. We quickly adapted to ever-changing health protocols, maintained physical distancing on-site, and leveraged Autodesk tools to collaborate virtually. Our team utilized BIM 360 as the backbone for design and construction management, Revit for all architectural models, AutoCAD for 2D collaboration, and Navisworks to identify potential conflicts and ensure construction readiness. This renovation process during a global pandemic was a poignant reminder of the challenges our customers face across industries, and how Autodesk technology can help teams navigate uncertainty safely. It also inspired us to rethink the gallery’s design with a focus on health and safety for future visitors. We incorporated features like touch-free buttons, interactive displays triggered by sensors, and other touchless elements. The gallery will officially open for select tours and events in 2022. In the meantime, I invite you to take a virtual tour of this inspiring new space and explore the engaging experiences it offers. Stepping off the elevator, guests are greeted with a striking visual display at one end of the lobby, showcasing the vast capabilities of Autodesk and the groundbreaking work of our customers. At the other end, a sleek reception desk leads visitors to a physical manifestation of our refreshed brand logo. One of the highlights of the newly renovated gallery is the array of customer stories brought to life through immersive exhibits. At its heart, the gallery celebrates the transformative work of our customers across industries, leveraging Autodesk technologies. There are now 13 unique customer stories, each allowing guests to explore cutting-edge solutions, pioneering advancements, and visionary ideas for a brighter future. For instance, Build Change, a nonprofit organization, uses Autodesk technology to assist communities affected by natural disasters like earthquakes and typhoons, helping them rebuild and fortify against future damage. Another standout is LAIKA, an award-winning animation studio that employs Autodesk tools to breathe life into their award-winning films. Meanwhile, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory collaborated with Autodesk Research to optimize their Lander using generative design technology, ensuring it meets strict weight constraints. In addition to these inspiring stories, the gallery introduces three new Autodesk-focused experiences that provide deeper insight into the company’s mission and impact. Spectrum, a new exhibit, pays tribute to the innovators, problem solvers, and experts who are shaping a better world. Through interactive portraits of our customers, it highlights the human side of innovation. Prism, positioned at the center of the exhibit space, serves as a hub connecting all the customer stories. Visitors can engage in multi-choice questions projected onto a large tabletop surface, responding either by touch or gesture. Future Communities, developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian, invites guests to collaborate with each other and AI to design a resilient and sustainable community. This multiplayer game fosters conversations about how AI and generative design can help balance diverse priorities in complex design scenarios. The expanded gallery also includes a stunning Executive Briefing Center offering a VIP experience for executives and clients, along with a versatile event space capable of transforming to suit various occasions. From its inception to its grand reopening, the Autodesk Gallery stands as a beacon of inspiration and innovation.
