Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Strengthens Automobile Hazardous Substances Management

On the 9th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Management Requirements for Automobile Hazardous Substances and Recyclable Utilization Ratios." Starting from January 1, 2016, the use of harmful substances in passenger vehicles (Class M1) with no more than nine seats in total Recyclable utilization management. At the same time, it is required that automobile manufacturers should provide “Automatic Dismantling Guidance Manual” to recycling and dismantling enterprises within 6 months of obtaining the “Notice” of new products through appropriate channels and methods. If the above materials and information are not provided as required, they shall be ordered to make corrections within a time limit or the list shall be published.

In 2014, the production and sales volume of China's automobiles were 23.72 million and 23.49 million, respectively, and the number of vehicles held exceeded 150 million. The survey shows that 70% of China’s auto companies have started to establish a management system for hazardous substances and recycling efficiency. The compliance rate of harmful substances such as lead and cadmium is about 90%, and the recovery and utilization rate is about 90%, but the overall level and development of the industry There is still a certain gap between the country and the region.

The person in charge of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that it will publish an annual report on the green development of the automotive industry, announce the use of harmful substances and recyclable utilization of automobiles, and summarize and evaluate the development of the automobile production system and green supply chain management.
