"We are working tirelessly to provide the tools and services that enable our customers to radically improve how buildings and infrastructure are designed and built, and our customers are clearly responding."
SAN FRANCISCO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – In the fiscal quarter ended Jan. 31, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) closed dozens of new and expanded deals in the architecture, engineering, construction, and infrastructure industries. As the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) continues to accelerate worldwide, more firms in the building and infrastructure sectors are turning to Autodesk for their software solutions.
In the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, Autodesk delivered a strong fourth quarter, closing out a record year with AEC product suite revenue increasing by 32% year-over-year. The company recorded a significant number of multi-million-dollar transactions, including its largest deal to date. Autodesk BIM 360, the cloud and mobile solution for construction management and jobsite execution, saw especially strong customer adoption and has become one of the fastest-growing products in the company’s history.
“As architecture firms, contractors, and engineering companies realize the full potential of BIM to enhance every part of the design and construction process, our customers are seeing major productivity gains through fewer errors, less rework, and lower costs,†said Amar Hanspal, Senior Vice President of Autodesk’s Information Modeling and Platform Group. “Our cloud and mobile services are in high demand because they bring the value of BIM anywhere, anytime—whether in the office or on the jobsite.â€
New or expanded deals include major players such as AECOM, Black & Veatch Corporation, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), Fluor, HDR Engineering, Qatar Rail, and PCL Construction, among others. These agreements highlight the growing trust in Autodesk’s BIM solutions across the entire construction ecosystem.
Turner Construction Company, one of North America’s largest construction firms, has seen significant benefits from using Autodesk BIM solutions, particularly BIM 360 on the Oakland International Airport renovation project. "Autodesk BIM 360 Glue is more than just visualization—it supports information collaboration and has improved our efficiency," said Lincoln Wood, from Turner Construction. "The mobile app represents the next step in coordination and communication with the field. As a contractor, I believe the field is ready to leverage this technology in exciting ways."
In January, the European Union issued a directive urging its 28 member states to use BIM on public works projects. This follows similar mandates in countries like Australia, Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.
Contractors have now become the fastest-growing adopters of BIM. According to the 2014 McGraw Hill Construction Smart Market Report, contractors expect BIM to be used in 50% more of their work over the next two years.
“There are strong global trends supporting BIM, and Autodesk is leading this transformation,†added Hanspal. “We’re committed to providing the tools and services that help our customers revolutionize how buildings and infrastructure are designed and built—and our customers are clearly responding.â€
