Working fire in Des Plaines, 12-12-19

Thursday afternoon on December 12, 2019, the Des Plaines Fire Department responded to a fire at an apartment building located at 642 Colonial Drive. From what I’ve gathered, firefighters from Firehouse 63 were dispatched and managed to keep the blaze contained, preventing it from spreading into the attic—a solid effort on their part. The team executed an interior knockdown, worked on the roof, and moved into overhaul mode to ensure the fire didn’t reignite. Overall, it was classified as a working fire response, and thankfully, no civilian injuries were reported. Attached are some photos taken by the Des Plaines Fire Department showing the aftermath of the incident. You can see firefighters diligently going through the overhaul process, ensuring every last ember is extinguished. It's always reassuring to know that our local first responders are so thorough in their efforts to keep everyone safe. These images really capture the hard work and dedication of the firefighters. It’s not an easy job, but they handle it with professionalism and precision. Thanks again to Minas for sharing these photos—they provide a great visual of what went down that day. In situations like this, it’s crucial to remember how vital our emergency services are. Kudos to the Des Plaines FD for keeping the community safe and minimizing damage. Let’s hope it stays a learning experience rather than something more severe.
