This just happened earlier today: The Lake Forest Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 792 Greenbriar Lane right around noon (on November 5th, 2015). When they arrived, they found intense flames erupting from the back of a large, two-story home. The fire was so severe that it quickly escalated to what’s known as a Box Alarm, which means additional resources were called in to help battle the blaze. After about 40 minutes of intense firefighting efforts, the flames were finally brought under control.
I took some quick snapshots while this was all unfolding. You can see the thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky, completely engulfing the house. It's quite a sight, even from a distance. The firefighters were working nonstop, using their hoses and ladders to try and douse the flames. Some of them were up high on the ladder trucks, spraying water directly onto the burning building.
As you can imagine, the damage was extensive. Once the fire was out, all that remained was a charred shell of what was once a beautiful home. I snapped some more photos afterward to capture the aftermath—cracked windows, blackened walls, and debris scattered everywhere. It’s heartbreaking to see something like this happen, but I’m glad the fire department was able to get it under control relatively quickly.
If you're interested in seeing more photos, they’re available online at shapirophotography.net and Olkee.smugmug.com. These sites have an incredible collection of images taken both during and after the fire. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly situations can change and why preparedness is so important.
