On the day of the event, Wang Jing, general manager of the Tianjin Emissions Exchange, read out the “Certificate of Carbon Neutrality Transactionâ€, indicating that the meeting was a “zero-carbon†meeting.
This means that the 1.739 tons of carbon dioxide emissions generated by the event will be offset by the purchase of carbon emissions at the Tianjin Emission Exchange.
The reporter was informed that this is the first carbon emission voluntary emission reduction meeting in the domestic waste tire industry. Its organizers are the China Tire Recycling Association, the China Circular Economy Association, the Tianjin Tire Recycling Association, and the Tianjin Institute for Sustainable Development.
The event was directed by Tianjin Haitai Environmental Protection Technology Development Co., Ltd., Hebei University of Technology, Tianjin TEDA Low Carbon Economy Promotion Center and Nankai University.
It is understood that China, as an active participant in the global response to climate change, has promised that by 2030, the unit's gross domestic product, CO2 emissions, will fall by 60% to 65% from 2005.
According to the timetable, China will launch a full-scale national carbon trading market by 2017.
