Imperial Chemical Company (Tayca) was established in December 1919, formerly known as Imperial artificial fertilizer company, in 1920 produced calcium phosphate and sulfuric acid. In 1942 changed to the current name. 1989 the company changed again, the English translation is called Tayca Crop. Main products are titanium white powder, surfactants, sulfate, ferrous sulfate, gypsum and the like.
The company began production of sulfuric acid titanium dioxide in April 1951. The factory was built in Okayama. At the beginning, the production scale was very small. After several transformations, the production capacity in 1990 has reached 48,600 tons/year. Since the 1970s, the company's development activities in pigment manufacturing technology have been active. In the late 1970s, a new type of anti-rust pigment aluminum tripolyphosphate white anti-rust pigment (trade name "K-White") was successfully developed. It was established in 1981. In the 1980s, the manufacturing technology of ultra-fine Ti02 was developed and industrialized production was realized. The products have entered the US automotive coatings market. The company has also developed the production technology of mica titanium pearlescent pigments under the trade names Teikapearl (industrial) and Selfarl (cosmetic).
