Recently, the 8th China International Iron and Steel Conference with the theme of "Reform, Innovation, and Cooperation" was opened in Beijing. Chairman of the board of directors of CITIC Pacific Steel Group Yu Yapeng attended the meeting and made a report entitled “Reflections on China's Special Steel Transformation and Upgradingâ€.
In the report, Chairman Yu Yapeng made a comparative analysis with international advanced special steel companies on China's special steel company size, labor productivity, per capita sales revenue, benefit level, special steel products international market share, non-steel business and downstream extension processing, etc. At the same time, it is pointed out that the transformation and upgrading of China's special steel in the era of meager profits is the only way out of development.
With regard to how China's special steels will undergo a transformation and upgrade, Chairman Yu Yapeng believes that it is necessary to focus on the following six aspects: First, the transformation and upgrading of special steel companies should be guided by the needs of the market and customers. Second, special steel companies must specialize in processes, product service differentiation, management and operating efficiency to change, the formation of equipment-specific, market-specific, low cost, quality controllable features. Third, optimize the process, promote lean manufacturing, ensure product quality and ensure customer satisfaction. Fourth, highlighting technology leadership, increasing investment in R&D, pursuing quality cost, and guiding the entire production process with the concept of full cost optimization. Fifth, customer-centric, to provide customers with a full range of services. 6. Establish industrial alliances with upstream and downstream companies, and tie together assets, supply chain, and end-customer needs to form a stable supply-demand relationship and win the market.
