In order to support the implementation of the ban on highly toxic pesticides this year, the China Pesticide Industry Association is organizing a workshop focused on environmentally-friendly pesticide formulations, scheduled for April 10. The event aims to bring together industry experts, researchers, and manufacturers to address key challenges and explore innovative solutions in the field. China is home to 1,803 pesticide industry enterprises, with 1,334 of them directly involved in domestic market operations and the formulation of pesticides used by farmers. The annual production of pesticide formulations reaches approximately 1.6 million tons. However, a significant portion—around 50%—still consists of outdated dosage forms such as emulsifiable concentrates and wettable powders. This highlights the urgent need for technological upgrades and the development of more sustainable alternatives. The workshop will focus on several critical topics, including common challenges in pesticide formulation technology, the application of silicone additives, advancements in water-dispersible granules and aqueous suspension agents, and the use of ultrafine grinding mills in pesticide processing. Discussions will also cover best practices, regulatory updates, and strategies for improving efficiency and environmental safety in the sector. By fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, the event is expected to play a vital role in guiding the industry toward greener, safer, and more effective pesticide solutions. It represents an important step forward in aligning China's agricultural practices with global sustainability standards.
