Machine fire in Buffalo Grove 1-11-12

On what was otherwise a beautiful and slow day, Larry Shapiro arrived at a fire scene in an industrial facility located at 1010 Johnson Drive in Buffalo Grove. The incident began when smoke was reported inside the building, prompting several companies to respond. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure already evacuated, with heavy smoke filling the interior. A machine inside the building had sparked a fire that ignited some filters, leading to the need for additional resources. Northbrook Tower Ladder 12 was called in as a second unit, while local Buffalo Grove crews worked quickly to contain the blaze. Engine 26 deployed a single line and successfully extinguished the fire within minutes. Despite the quick response, the scene remained smoky and chaotic, with emergency personnel working diligently to ensure the area was safe. Several photos captured key moments of the incident, including Buffalo Grove Tower 25 being raised in case of roof access, Engine 26 entering the building with a hoseline, and firefighters being hosed down after exiting the smoky environment. The fire appeared to be contained to one section of the facility, though the lingering smoke highlighted the intensity of the situation. Two Ferrara units from Buffalo Grove were seen on the scene, ready to assist if needed. Additional images showed the affected area and the efforts of the responding crews. This event served as a reminder of the importance of quick action and coordination during emergencies. A gallery with more exciting images can be found HERE.
