One of the most noticeable changes on the new engine is its updated graphics package. Instead of the traditional bold lettering, the department opted for a more subtle look. A department decal is prominently displayed on the front door, while the rear crew door features less prominent text for “Palatine Fire Department.†This shift suggests a more streamlined and professional appearance that blends well with the rest of the fleet.

Even older models, such as the 1965 Seagrave engine, had the classic door lettering that many firefighters are familiar with. This evolution in design reflects how fire departments often update their visual identity over time, balancing tradition with modern aesthetics. With Engine 82 now in service, the Palatine Fire Department continues to move forward while still honoring its history.
