New engine delivered to Alsip

The Alsip Fire Department recently received a brand-new 2012 Seagrave Marauder II pumper. Once training and equipment installation are complete, Engine 2063 will be deployed at Station 1 on Pulaski Road, while Engine 2023 will be placed in reserve at Station 2. The older 1986 Spartan/Grumman/TeleSqurt engine (Engine 2053) is set to be retired and will soon begin a new chapter in Ecuador. With this acquisition, Alsip now operates three Seagrave engines and one Seagrave truck, making them one of the few fully Seagrave-equipped departments in the region. This is the first Seagrave engine for Alsip to feature roll-up doors and a 2,000-GPM pump. The unit also includes a painted steel bumper with chevron striping, a zolatone pump panel instead of traditional brushed stainless steel, and the first use of shorter 'barrier-style' doors in the department’s fleet. A photo shows Engine 2063 on its 2012 Seagrave Marauder II chassis. It comes equipped with a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump, 750 gallons of water, and 40 gallons of foam. This upgrade marks a significant step forward in the department's firefighting capabilities. Another image highlights Engine 2023, which was built by Seagrave in 2007 as part of their 150th anniversary model. While similar in design to the newer unit, it features a 1,500-GPM pump. The contrast between the two models showcases the evolution of Seagrave’s fire apparatus over the years. A third photo displays a new label on the pump panel that clearly states the capacities of both the water and foam tanks. This addition is especially appreciated by fire apparatus enthusiasts and historians who enjoy tracking the technical details of emergency vehicles. With these updates, the Alsip Fire Department continues to modernize and improve its response capabilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community they serve.
