PocketPD is a compact, USB Type-C powered desktop power supply designed to be easily carried in your pocket. Despite its small size, it's packed with advanced features that make it ideal for both casual users and professionals. It supports a wide voltage range and ensures safe operation, making it a versatile tool for various charging needs. The device includes an OLED display, a current sensor, and banana plug outputs, allowing it to work seamlessly with standard USB-C chargers, power banks, and other devices.
One of the standout features of PocketPD is its ability to operate in Programmable Power Supply (PPS) mode, which is part of the USB Power Delivery 3.0 specification. This allows users to directly control and monitor voltage and current output from their compatible charger or power bank. This makes it not only a power supply but also a useful tool for testing Power Delivery profiles.
The design of PocketPD focuses on simplicity, portability, and user-friendliness. With physical buttons and a clear OLED display, you can start using it right away by plugging in a compatible power source—no complex setup required. Whether you're a beginner or a professional, this device offers a powerful yet easy-to-use solution for managing power supplies on the go.
Core Design
The core of PocketPD is built around the PPS mode introduced in 2015, which was originally developed to improve smartphone battery charging. This mode allows precise control over voltage and current levels, making it perfect for desktop power supply applications. Many modern USB-C chargers and power banks, including those from brands like Anker, Ugreen, Baseus, and CUKTECH, support PPS. Before using PocketPD, it's recommended to check if your charger or power bank is compatible with this mode.
It's important to note that the maximum voltage and current output of PocketPD depends on the USB Type-C charger and cable used. If your charger supports 5A but you're using a 3A cable, the maximum current will be limited to 3A. Similarly, the voltage range available on PocketPD will depend on the capabilities of the connected charger. Common voltage ranges include 3.3V to 11V and 3.3V to 21V.
