Last night, the Pink Heals Tour made a stop in Downers Grove, drawing attention from locals and fire truck enthusiasts alike. Bill Friedrich was there to capture the moment, snapping photos of the iconic pink fire trucks that rolled into town. The event not only highlighted the campaign's mission to raise breast cancer awareness but also showcased some of the most unique and historic fire apparatus in the country.
Among the standout vehicles was "Anne Marie," a Thomas-Built bus that turned heads with its vibrant pink paint job. Another notable unit was "Karen," a 1989 Spartan/FMC 1500/500 from Capitol Heights VFD, Maryland. The tour also featured "Tonya," a 1988 E-One Hush 1500/500 from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and "Leslie," a 1991 E-One Hush 1250/500/40 from Tyler, Texas. These vintage rigs added a nostalgic touch to the modern cause.
One of the most eye-catching moments was when "Karen" was seen towing the Pink Heals trailer, a symbol of the tour’s commitment to spreading awareness across the nation. The event was a celebration of community, health, and the power of fundraising through unique and memorable experiences. It was a night filled with color, history, and purpose, all under the banner of the Pink Heals Tour.
